Nebraska Wesleyan University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre and Directing for the Theatre Arts Program. The start date for this position will be August 2025.

Responsibilities

This faculty member will play a primary role in helping coordinate NWU’s BFA Musical Theatre program. Responsibilities include teaching musical theatre classes and voice lessons and serving as musical director and/or stage director for musical theatre productions. Depending on the applicant’s qualifications, other teaching duties may include teaching dance, theatre classes in the acting and directing curricula, staging plays, and choreography, as well as teaching in NWU’s Archway Curriculum. This faculty member will also actively assist in the recruitment of prospective students.

Qualifications
  • Terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in Theatre or MA with five or more years of professional musical theatre and directing experience. 
  • Previous teaching and stage direction experience and prospective student recruitment experience preferred. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty, staff, directors and designers.
  • Ability to maintain a strong, positive, professional approach to theatre training.
